Our Curriculum

TeWhariki

Our programme curriculum is based on the Ministry of Educations Early Childhood Curriculum -TeWhariki - He wharikimataurangamonga mokopuna o Aotearoa. Our curriculum is uniquely recognised worldwide with its bi-cultural foundations and empowering approach that acknowledges the holistic development of a child. Our play therefore reflect this and we provide daily learning opportunities through play for cognitive, social, emotional, cultural, and physical development.

Learning Through Play

Play is the valued mode of learning and pedagogical foundation of TeWhariki. Research has shown that children learn best through play and where our environments and programmes enable children to direct their own play as teachers support.

Transition to School

We provide a transition to school programme for our pre-schoolers. Four year olds have a daily programme focusing on letter and number recognition as they prepare for school. Children will take a book bag home every week to encourage reading and every Monday a visit to the local school – Riverhills Primary School, for children to be familiar with the school environment.

Educa

Children’s learning is well documented monthly on our online platform Educa and also as hardcopies in individual child’s learning portfolio at the centre.
